Lucinda is a senior international lawyer and manager with over 27 years of expertise in leadership, strategic planning, policy analysis and guidance, and negotiating within the complex and sensitive fields of law and policy.

At MLC School, Lucinda was the 1986 Churunga Captain and was a member of the Debating and Gymnastics teams and an academic high achiever.

After school, Lucinda finished a Bachelor of Law degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Sydney and a Masters in International Law from the University of Cambridge, England. She is a qualified lawyer/attorney in Australia and New York.

Her areas of legal expertise include intellectual property, innovation, copyright and creative industries, media and the digital environment, emerging technologies, international law and normative/regulatory development at national and international levels.

Lucinda is currently the Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Australia and New Zealand at Google. In this role she is responsible for a team of corporate affairs professionals leading the company’s engagement with Australian and New Zealand Government officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy on innovation and digital technology. She is the lead on the development of strategy, campaigns and advocacy on a broad and rapidly evolving range of critical issues for technology and society, including privacy, online safety, cyber security, artificial intelligence, competition, intellectual property. Her focus is on connecting Australians with authoritative information and tackling misinformation and she uses her influence at Google to make a difference by leading programs on disability advocacy and LGQTBIA inclusivity.

Formerly, Lucinda served as Head of the New York Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), where she was responsible for liaison with the United Nations in New York and the Washington-based World Bank and IMF.

Lucinda joined WIPO in 1998, where she served as Deputy Director in the Development Sector, and as a Senior Attorney in the Copyright and Electronic Commerce Divisions of WIPO. Lucinda’s work has focused on innovation and technology, and the management of intellectual property for economic, social and cultural development.
