Amelia Jubelin (2022) was the MLC School 2022 HSC OnSTAGE selection for her Individual Performance ‘The Countess’. She was also one of our 45 HSC students who were placed on the HSC Distinguished Achievers list for those students who achieved a result in the highest possible Band for one or more courses.
OnSTAGE is a presentation of exemplary performances and projects by HSC Drama students. From all schools in NSW for the Class of 2022, 908 students who achieved a top HSC score for their Drama major work were nominated from 34 schools. Of these 908 students, 69 students were selected as exemplary works that meet all exam and syllabus requirements. These 69 students performed their HSC pieces at the OnSTAGE event at the Seymour Centre’s York Theatre from 4 to 10 February 2023.
Amelia’s Individual Performance ‘The Countess’ was so highly regarded by the OnSTAGE examiners that she was invited to speak about her process and offer advice to other students in an OnSTAGE Video Masterclass.
In the Masterclass, Amelia says it was important to listen to critiques from her peers and her teachers to make her performance better. She also spoke of how her teachers at MLC School “helped me feel confident in myself… if I had something that I wanted to change she was very open for it, she would never shoot me down, she would always help me… but she gave me a lot of creative space and helped me make my piece my own.”
