MLC School Scholarships (All Rounder) – Year 7 to Year 11 2025

All Rounder Scholarships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate significant academic potential, together with achievement and potential in two or more of the following areas:

  • Leadership
  • Cultural/creative/performing arts
  • Service
  • Sport

Candidates with strong evidence in one or more of the above areas are encouraged to apply. This evidence could include representative selection, awards, honours or other recognition.

Music Scholarships – Year 7 2025

Music Scholarships are awarded to applicants who achieve excellent results on the entrance examination and are exceptional musicians on their chosen instrument. Successful Music Scholarship applicants are required to participate in the full music program offered by MLC School for the duration of their time at the School. This commitment requires full participation in the elective music program from Year 9 to Year 12. This is an integrated course of individual performance, ensemble performance, study of musicology, aural development and composition. Successful Music Scholarship applicants will also be required to participate in the core music ensembles and the required music performances throughout the year.

Any student applying for an MLC School Music Scholarship must provide written evidence of having reached the below as a minimum AMEB grade, or equivalent performance standard. Written evidence can include an examination report and/or a letter from a qualified music teacher (normally the student's instrumental teacher), which indicates that the musician has reached the minimum standard/equivalent required.

  • Grade 7 – Piano, Violin
  • Grade 6 – Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Orchestral Percussion, Voice
  • Grade 4 – Viola, Double Bass, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Oboe, Bassoon, Pipe Organ

Edna Curtis (daughter of an Old Girl) Scholarships – Year 7 2025

The Edna Curtis Scholarship is awarded to the applicant who achieves excellent results on the entrance examination and successfully meets the 'all rounder' criteria but is also the daughter of a former student of the School. The half scholarship is awarded by the Old Girls' Union (OGU).

The Principal's Scholarship for Year 10 2025

The Principal of MLC School, Ms Lisa Moloney introduced a new scholarship for girls entering Year 10 2025, who would not otherwise be able to attend the School.

The Principal’s Scholarship is open to new applicants only and covers up to full remission of tuition fees for the three years the student attends the School. It is open to girls who will flourish in the MLC School environment; who will embrace the wide-ranging opportunities on offer at the School, both academically and in co-curricular endeavours; who will support the ethos of the Uniting Church, and most importantly, who dare to be more.

As part of the application process, girls will sit an examination and parents will need to provide a supporting statement and financial documentation. To apply for consideration, please email

This Scholarship is open to Australian residents only.

Indigenous Scholarships

Through the generosity of our Old Girls and the broader School community, MLC School is able to offer a small number of means-tested scholarships to Indigenous girls, entering either the Junior School or Year 7. These provide partial or full funding for the length of enrolment to cover tuition fees and some costs associated with attending the School.

All applicants for the Indigenous Scholarship program should submit a general enrolment application by 30 January in the year prior to the proposed entry for their daughter.

Applicants for Year 7 are asked to apply for and sit the scholarship examination prior to their proposed entry year.

All applicants will be considered and those shortlisted will be interviewed during the course of the year prior to entry. Student enthusiasm and family support for the opportunity to attend MLC School are relevant factors in determining suitable recipients.

Our hope is to be able to offer more opportunities to assist girls through this scholarship program as we grow the level of philanthropic support available.
